Yoga & Muscle Activation Techniques in Oklahoma
|
The light and the darkness in me bows to the light and the darkness in you. Thomas Thompson teaches hatha yoga in Norman and Oklahoma City. He is also a Muscle Activation Techniques® Certified Specialist. Thomas left a 10 year career to follow his passion of teaching yoga and to become a therapist. While finishing the undergraduate prerequisites for physical therapy at the University of Oklahoma he learned about Muscle Activation Techniques® and decided learning this technique was more suited towards his goal. Yoga came into his life around 1997, but it always seemed a part of his life from early childhood since he was involved in martial arts at age eight until present. Injuries stopped a long competition streak in taekwondo ,and perhaps, that was a blessing in disguise that enabled him to understand the nature of injuries and the aging process. Despite the fact that the martial arts has taken a back seat to yoga practice, there is still a strong hint of the path that brought him to where he is in his asana practice. While continuing to study with many senior yoga teachers around the world, he is also in the process of acquiring his Yoga Alliance 500 ERYT certification. He currently holds the 200 hr RYT certification. His yoga classes are usually based on cultivating strength in order to open the body and mind. All are welcome to come and try the practice on for size. Lots of individual instruction is available in the smaller classes and "going at one's own pace" is encouraged. Additionally, Thomas consults with the University of Oklahoma's Wrestling Team on strength and flexibity. He recently finished his Muscle Activation Techniques program in May of 2008 and will likely begin a course of study in the Resistance Training Specialist program here in Oklahoma City in fall 2008. In the fall semester he had the privelege of using MAT with the University of Oklahoma Women's Soccer team to help with existing injuries and prevent future ones.
If you meditate, sooner or later you will come upon love. If you meditate deeply, sooner or later you will start feeling a tremendous love arising in you that you have never known before. -- Osho |
